Abstract

The number of cases of bacterial infections that occur today has resulted in high use of antibiotics among the public. The use of antibiotics will be beneficial and can provide an effective effect if they are prescribed and consumed according to the rules and the right and wise dosage. Misuse of antibiotics among the community such as community disobedience in taking antibiotics. Low knowledge about drugs can result in not achieving therapeutic goals. So that supervision and education from health workers is needed regarding the function of antibiotics in dealing with infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge about the use of antibiotics in the West Denpasar area. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study used a purvosive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by giving questionnaires to respondents who met the criteria in this study. Analysis of the level of knowledge is calculated by dividing the total score obtained by the maximum score multiplied by 100%. The results showed that most of the people involved in this study were aged 17-25 years (70%), female (73.3%), had high school/vocational school education (52.2%) and working respondents (98.9%) and the level of knowledge of the people in the West Denpasar area of Dauh Puri Klod Village regarding the use of antibiotics was in the sufficient category with a percentage of 76.27%.
